What is the MOT scheme?

The MOT is a compulsory annual test of motor vehicles to ensure that they are properly maintained. When your Saab passes the MOT inspection, you'll receive a certificate that must be kept in the car at all times. The MOT scheme is monitored by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and essentially helps ensure road safety.

Who needs to get an MOT?

Your first MOT is due when your car is three years old/ After that, you must get an MOT annually. Without a valid MOT, your saab does not have a valid insurance policy and you may be liable for a fine of up to £1,000 plus a fixed penalty.

What is included in the MOT?

Authorised MOT examiners such as Western Saab will examine the conditionof your brakes, tyres, lights, mirrors, fuel system and many more items critical for safe vehicle operatin. NOTE: the MOT certificate is not a quarantee of the general mechanical condition of a vehicle.

How much does an MOT cost?

The department of transport has set a maximum MOT cost at £54.
